- 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tbsp Milk
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- Pinch Nutmeg
Method of Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Step 3
Cut in the cold cubed butter until the butter is pea-sized.
Step 4
In a bowl whisk together the applesauce, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla.
Step 5
Add the liquid and apples to the flour mixture. Mix until barely combined.
Step 6
Add the dough to a floured surface, knead until it comes together, and then shape it into a 8" round disk.
Step 7
Cut the disc into 8 even wedges and transfer them to the sheet pan, placing them 2" apart.
Place in the fridge for 20 minutes.
Step 8
In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon crunch ingredients until it resembles wet sand. Set aside.
Step 9
Brush the scones with an egg wash. Sprinkle the cinnamon crunch topping generously over the top of each scone.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Step 10
In a small bowl combine the cinnamon glaze ingredients until smooth.
When the scones have cooled, drizzle the glaze over them. Enjoy!
